Motivation:The empire’s roots trace to 330 AD when Emperor Constantine the Great relocated the Roman capital to the ancient Greek city of Byzantium, renaming it Constantinople Byzantine Empire, or Eastern Roman Empire, was the continuation of the Roman Empire in the Middle Ages, centred in Constantinople. Surviving the fall of Western Rome, it endured for over a millennium until 1453. The empire preserved classical heritage while blending Greco-Roman culture with medieval Christian traditions.At its peak, the Eastern Roman Empire (often called the Byzantine Empire) spanned across Southern Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. Its core was centered in modern Greece and Turkey. Because modern borders did not exist in antiquity, here are the modern-day countries that were included in the Eastern Roman Empire at its greatest extent:
