Moon of the May

For Sale / Te Koop

# 59/ 01

Motivation: The May 2025 moon, ethereal glow whose brightness woked the artist in the middle of the night, she opened eyes and saw this amazing picture in the window. The huge moon was surrounded by harsh bright light and stood above the tall trees and roofs of houses. The reality that the artist later transferred to the canvas was also recorded by NASA

scientific explanation: This occurs when Earth is located between the Sun and the Moon when the ecliptic longitudes of the Sun and Moon differ by 180°. This means that the lunar hemisphere facing Earth—the near side—is completely sunlit and appears as an approximately circular disk. The moon is actually quite dim, compared to other astronomical bodies. The moon only seems bright in the night sky because it is so close to the earth and because the trees, houses, and fields around you are so dark at night. In fact, the moon is one of the least reflective objects in the solar system. Full moon: The moon is 180 degrees away from the sun and is as close as it can be to being fully illuminated by the sun from our perspective.
